After completing the check-in procedure, passengers move to the emigration counter.

You will present your passport and boarding pass to the immigration officer.

The system will scan the barcode and check passenger information against the national database.

You may be asked to: have your photo taken on-site, and provide electronic fingerprints.

After the inspection, the officer will stamp your passport, marking that you have officially departed Vietnam.

Common concerns about the emigration process

Can I use e-Gate for emigration?

Some international airports have implemented automated control lanes (e-Gate) to help passengers complete emigration procedures more quickly. Using the e-Gate lane may apply to passengers with appropriate documents who meet certain conditions.
You should check in advance the conditions of use for the e-Gate at your departure airport or during check-in.

How long must my passport be valid to emigrate?

Your passport must be valid according to the requirements of the destination country. Please check specific requirements before your trip or visit the Immigration Department website for more information.

How much cash can I carry when leaving the country?

Carrying cash or foreign currency when leaving the country may be subject to limits according to current regulations. To avoid trouble during inspection, you should check in advance the cash limit and any required procedures if exceeding it.

Do children need special documents to emigrate?

Children leaving the country must have proper documents according to regulations and be accompanied by a legal guardian or an authorized person. Please refer to the Immigration Department website for detailed information.

What happens if I am denied emigration?

If you are denied emigration, you will be directed to an inspection room to clarify the reason. It could be due to missing documents, an invalid visa, or other issues. Staff will guide you on the next steps.
