Qatar Airways has been named the World’s Best Airline in 2025 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards held on June 17. Often referred to as the “Oscars of the aviation industry,” the awards ceremony took place during the Paris Air Show in France.

This marks the ninth time Qatar Airways has claimed the top honor in the 26-year history of the awards—a record unmatched by any other airline. In addition to the highest accolade, the carrier also won three major titles: Best Airline in the Middle East, World’s Best Business Class, and World’s Best Business Class Lounge.
The achievement came just weeks after the airline announced the largest order in Boeing’s history, including 210 wide-body aircraft—130 Dreamliners and 30 Boeing 777-9s.
In the ranking of the world’s top 100 airlines, Vietnam Airlines placed 62nd, down 15 spots from 47th in 2024. Vietjet Air was recognized as Vietnam’s Best Low-Cost Airline.

Edward Plaisted, CEO of Skytrax, stated that this year’s results reflect the industry’s growing emphasis on service consistency—an attribute increasingly valued by passengers in the voting process.
The 2025 Skytrax Awards recorded more than 22 million votes from passengers worldwide, evaluating over 325 airlines.
In the low-cost segment, AirAsia continued its dominance, securing the title of World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the 16th consecutive year since 2010.

Virgin Atlantic was awarded World’s Best Premium Economy Class in 2025, while Bangkok Airways of Thailand retained the title of World’s Best Regional Airline for the ninth time. In South Asia, IndiGo was named Best Airline in India & South Asia as well as Best Low-Cost Airline in the region.
Air Canada earned the title of Best Airline in North America and also won Best Business Class Lounge Dining for its Signature Suite at Toronto Pearson Airport.
In Africa, Ethiopian Airlines was recognized as the Best Airline for the seventh consecutive year. Saudia (formerly Saudi Arabian Airlines) received the award for Best Airline Staff Service in the Middle East.
The World Airline Awards, organized annually by Skytrax since 1999, are described as fully independent and impartial. Survey costs and event organization are borne by Skytrax, without any financial influence from airlines.
