In January, Foreign Trade University announced that its 2025 admissions process would continue to include multiple pathways: high school academic records, results from the national high school graduation exam, domestic and international competency certificates, as well as direct admissions.

The high school transcript review method applies to three groups of students: participants in the national excellent student or science competitions, winners of third prize or higher in city-level academic competitions, and students from specialized high schools. Specific requirements vary by group, but a common condition is that the total score in three graduation exam subjects must reach at least 24 points.

The university uses four main subject combinations, all of which include English and Mathematics:

  • A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry)
  • A01 (Math, Physics, English)
  • D07 (Math, Chemistry, English)
  • D00 (Literature, Math, Foreign Language: English, French, Chinese, Japanese, Russian)

However, after the national high school graduation exam held on June 26–27, many candidates expressed “shock,” noting that the Math and English exams were more difficult than sample tests or common practice papers. Teachers assessed that the score distribution for Math is likely to range between 5.0–6.5, and English between 5.0–5.5, both lower than last year.

The 2025 high school graduation exam results will be released on July 16, and students may register or adjust their university admission preferences until 5:00 p.m., July 28.
